This little bat was sleeping up in the corner of the entrance to our office.

@Lorraine: You know, it was here for two days and I started taking pics of it when I realize I could get a close up of its face! So I stood on a chair and zoomed in! It's little ears moved every time the flash went off... which was a little freaky! It's so tiny!
funny little guy and obviously a late riser :)

@Alun Lambert: Thank you.
Looks like your office is a fine place for a nap! :0)

@Craig: At least outside on the wall!!! :-)
So cute. Nice little lonely fellow!

@Michael Skorulski: Interesting that people came and went and never noticed it there!
I wonder where its friends are.

@Viewfinder: That's very true! Every time we get one clinging to the wall... and it's happened several times over the years, there has only been one!
Very cute! I love bats cause they eat mosquitoes!

@Sandrine: They are protected in New Jersey, against the law to harm one! Yes... eat those mosquitoes!!!
I hope the bat is the only one sleeping at the office! :-) Nice catch!

@vu@granby - Wolfgang: On rare occasions we have seen others napping... :-)
Thanks!
Wow, after reading what you wrote to Lorraine, the photo is even more remarkable. When we lived in South Salem, NY, there were thousands of bats living in the attics of old homes. So many would fly out at night you would hear a low 'hummmmm' in the air, now that was "freaky" too! Great shot, Betty.

@Judy: Thanks, Judy!

@MJ: Hey you!!! I'm here, you're not, I'm jealous!!!
Looks to be sound asleep too and not repulsive looking as many other bats... then I wouldn't ask a bat's opinion of me either!

@Earnest: We thought it was adorable! I've never seen any other kind of bat up close...
Bats sure provide a good service keeping insect under control. You should build bat houses for those cue guys.

@Michael Rawluk: I should have them here at home, I don't think they want them fluttering around the administration buildng!
Looks very tired but cute

@Peter Miller: Thanks!
Nice shot - you are brave indeed to call them cute (they look like flying rats to me!). I know they eat the bugs and see plenty of them flying around my house in the summer, but not sure I would want one nesting so close.....

@Chris: This one seemed to be only resting there, and it was only there two days (gone at night). Now it has left! We get one every once in a while, and then it leaves. Have no idea why...
He's upside down in the corner of the house..... he is kind of cute. Just goes to show never go anywhere without your handy camera in your hand.

@Marion: I learned the hard way that I should take a camera everywhere! Missed more shots... Now I always carry it with me.
Poor little guy looks all tuckered out! Nice shot!
27 May 2008 6:28pm
@Tracey: It's exhausted from buzzing round all night after those Jersey mosquitoes!
I guess, nobody should wake him/her up?
27 May 2008 10:51pm
@Rags: Interesting thing is, we have the public coming and going all day long... no one sees it! It's so tiny and high up in that corner! We definitely don't want to wake it!
you are a brave girl lol

@Lorraine: As long as it was sleeping! LOL
good eye to finf it ;)

@Anita: I just loved it's little face! :-)
